Conducted between February-September 2020, the assessment draws on both desk-based literature, key stakeholder interviews and field research conducted in Bangui, Bossangoa, Bocaranga and Yaloke, as well as internationally.

The report presents the different stages of the gold value chain in CAR from mining to export and further downstream, comparing the regulatory framework with the reality of gold flows and actors involved in gold mining and trade. It describes both primary and secondary activities in the value chain, profiling the actors involved, providing a view of livelihoods and revenues at each stage, and highlights barriers and opportunities related to them.
